One of the creators of Maxie!

From the weekend events, during the BBQ at the Dolphin Gallery in Kansas City.  This is one of the ladies responsible for building Maxie, the World's Largest Goose, in Sumner Missouri!  She recognized her work depicted on the mural side of Scout.

Hello, my name is Debbie Jackson and I am the publisher of a newspaper in Kansas City. I do not know who this lady is that claims to be one of the creators of Maxie or what her role might have been, but my father is the artist who created "Maxie - World's Largest Goose". His name is David Jackson and he was an artist in Kansas City, MO. We have created a Facebook page for Maxie, facebook.com/worldslargestgoose . Here is the description we have on the page: Kansas City artist, David C. Jackson, graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1973 with a degree in sculpture. Among his works of art, he was known for creating “Maxie”, the world’s largest goose – a 40-foot tall steel and fiberglass statue with a 65-foot wingspan, commissioned by the small town of Sumner, Missouri, in 1974 to commemorate their status as the “Wild Goose Capitol of the World”. “Maxie” is named after Branta Canadensis Maxima, the scientific name for Giant Canada Geese.

David Jackson passed away in 2013 and his three daughters are now creating a non-profit foundation to provide funds to help restore and preserve Maxie for generations to come. It is our hope that this Facebook page will encourage others to share their experiences with Maxie.
